Day 196- Bon Voyage and Home at Last!

We're 2 days behind, but I'm going to get caught up on our trip to Nova Scotia so far. I will have to add in pictures once we get home because the computer I am using isn't compatible with our memory card.

We headed to the airport for Nova Scotia on Saturday, July 14th at 4:15 a.m. We were all awake (and unhappy about it) at 3:30 a.m. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 5:50; however, it was delayed for 3 hours! Thankfully, we got bumped to another airline, and we hit the skies just 1 hour behind schedule.
On our first leg from from Knoxville to Philadelphia, Nora did incredibly well. She laughed when the pilot spoke to us over the intercom, she loved looking out the window during take off and the descent, and she even took a 45 minute nap. As we were de-boarding, the flight attendant commented on how sweet she was.

The second leg of the flight was a little more difficult. We sat on the runway for almost an hour before taking off. Nora was tired but couldn't sleep. We also were separated from Brad for more than half the flight until my seat partner was kind enough to offer to switch seats with Brad. (I'm sure he wasn't unhappy to get a break from the squirmy toddler who kept touching him.)
We arrived in Halifax, and our first stop after clearing customs and getting our baggage was (obviously) Tim Hortons!

Then, we found our car rental counter, got our car, and got on the road for Cape Breton. The drive was one of the longest of my life, but we managed just 2 quick stops. We pulled into Nanny and Grampy's driveway at approximately 6:45 p.m.

We were met by 2 very excited Grandparents and 1 very excited Auntie, who spent the next couple of hours fawning over Nora. We got Nora to sleep by about 9:15 Atlantic time. Overall, I was so impressed with how well she traveled and functioned on so little sleep. I was a proud Momma!
